"Saving Mr Bank's" Poster Analysis

They have taken a very simplistic approach to this poster possibly to not mistake the target age group as its aimed at adults.

The image is very simple with soft colouring making the dark title and the people the main focus of the picture. They've used an extreme long shot to allow room for the two shadows in front of them. The shadows that are positioned in the centre of the poster is of Mickey Mouse and Mary Poppins mirroring Walt and Travers. This shows how both characters despite being adults are also child like and that they are there charectors in a way. Being that Mickey Mouse and Mary Poppins are the most recognisable and interesting part of the poster it makes sense Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson are in the top right corner. By making them shadows they also make a point that this films is not about these charector but they are more of an underlining story line within the film.

The posters shows Walt Disney making an effort to talk to P.L. Travers (author of Mary Poppins). This suggests the story line involves a conflict between the two involving Disney having to make the effort as his body is turned towards Travers. As well as this his hand is reaching forward as if he is trying to make a point whilst his other hand is in his pocket suggesting he's talking to her calmly. Travers appears unimpressed as she has her nose turned up and is walking slightly in front of Walt.

The title is in smart dark red font making it appear dramatic and less child orientated despite the obvious focus on Disney. As well as the dark title, the dark costumes and faded shadow also suggest it's a more serious film than we would expect from this company. The sub-heading below the title states 'Where her book ended, their story began' which relates to all four characters on the poster. In the top left they have a list of their main cast in large writing bringing attention to there all star cast which would could entice people to go and see the movie.
